Principles for selecting electric spindles
Release time:2023-11-01 Click count:2476

Depending on the application scenario,Electric spindleIt can be roughly divided into eight categories: grinding, milling, turning, grinding, drilling, machining center, mechanical spindle (excluding built-in motor) belt drive spindle, special rotary test spindle, etc. Users need to clarify the corresponding usage requirements before use. Commonly used by users include grinding, milling, turning, machining centers, mechanical spindles (excluding built-in motors), and belt driven spindles.

1、 When choosing an electric spindle, be sure to pay attention to your application scenario, as the interface for different application scenarios is different. In addition, it is also crucial to understand your power requirements and the corresponding speed at this power, because for the same 1kW, there is a significant difference in the external dimensions of the electric spindle between 1000 and 10000 revolutions per minute, so the operating conditions need to be accurate.

2、 The interface of the tool used must be clear, and this is also a principle. In general, the interface speed of BT50 can only be used for electric spindles below 8000 revolutions per minute, while the interface of BT40 can be used for electric spindles below 18000 revolutions per minute. If you want a higher speed, you need to choose the corresponding HSK or other high-speed tool interface for the tool interface. The ER spring chuck or SD spring chuck used on the CNC milling electric spindle also has a certain allowable maximum speed.

3、 Electric spindles for grinding are generally motors designed with constant torque. The relationship between the maximum speed, power, and voltage of the motor is proportional, and the voltage and power increase linearly with the increase of the electric spindle speed. The current remains basically unchanged because the relationship between torque and current is linear, so this type of electric spindle is called a constant torque motor. The design of electric spindles for general grinding considers a relatively small speed range, usually 80% -100% of the maximum speed, while also taking into account the maximum allowable linear speed of the grinding wheel. So generally, high-speed small grinding wheels and low-speed large grinding wheels cannot be used simultaneously during use, otherwise the grinding function and efficiency of the large grinding wheel will be relatively low due to insufficient low-speed power. In addition, due to the weight of the large grinding wheel itself, the bearing capacity of the high-speed electric spindle cannot meet its requirements, resulting in a sharp decrease in the bearing life of the spindle, and the precision life is greatly shortened. Due to the close speed grading of the electric spindle used for grinding, users can choose different grinding requirements separately, thus realizing the working ability and efficiency potential of the electric spindle. The electric spindle used in milling and machining centers is usually designed with a constant torque section and a constant power section to meet the cutting needs over a wide speed range. Heavy cutting with high torque is required at low speeds, while precision cutting with a certain power is required at high speeds. Therefore, there are significant differences between the motor system and the electric spindle used in grinding.

In addition, the motor parameter system of the grinding electric spindle is usually marked with S6 working system, including S6-40% and S6-60%, which is closely related to the working characteristics of grinding. During grinding, the grinding cycle of a workpiece usually includes several steps such as fast feed, grinding, tool retraction, and wheel repair. The power consumption of the motor is not a constant load, and we usually need to improve its overload capacity in the design of the grinding electric spindle. When you look at the parameters of the grinding electric spindle, you will see two sets of parameters S1 and S6. S6 is usually higher than S1, one is related to the working system of the motor, and the other is related to the overload capacity of the motor. Marking S6 power indicates that the motor can operate in a short time of 30s~120s. Overload within s to this power system, long-term use can only be carried out according to S1 This is different from other electric spindles in terms of usage, and it must be noted.

By clarifying one's own usage needs in advance, one can select suitable product specifications more quickly and accurately.
