High speed electric spindleDuring operation, the built-in motor and rolling bearings will generate a lot of heat during rotation. Due to the compact structure, small open space, and weak spontaneous heat dissipation of the electric spindle, if the heat is not dissipated in a timely manner, it will cause varying degrees of thermal expansion between the internal parts of the electric spindle, which will affect the performance parameters such as spindle stiffness and machining accuracy, and seriously affect the service life of the spindle. So what are the cooling methods for electric spindles?
There are generally two methods for overall cooling of electric spindles: liquid cooling and forced air cooling.
(1) Liquid cooling refers to the internal planning of cooling water circulation in high-speed electric spindles, and the installation of corresponding cooling machines externally to circulate the cooling liquid inside the spindle and remove internal heat. The advantages of this cooling method are simple and reliable planning, and the cooling effect is relatively obvious. The disadvantage is that the cooling effect on the spindle core is relatively poor, and the cost of the cooling machine is relatively high.
(2) Air forced cooling refers to planning a forced convection channel between the housing of a high-speed electric spindle and the stator of the motor. The heat generated by the motor enters the forced convection zone through heat conduction, and finally brings the heat into the air to complete the constant temperature operation of the high-speed electric spindle. Air forced cooling has the characteristic of no pollution. If static pressure gas bearings are used, the gas from the static pressure gas bearings can circulate inside the spindle to take away some of the heat from the motor.
It is necessary to cool and dissipate heat from the high-speed electric spindle, especially when it enters high temperature weather. If you find that the high-speed electric spindle overheats during use, you should consider whether to take heat dissipation measures. Do not let the electric spindle work under overheating conditions, which will affect its service life.
